Pastor Mike is a Bakersfield native who came to faith in Christ while in high school. He has had a variety of careers as an Army Green Beret, Sheriff’s Deputy, Embassy Security Contractor, and teacher. He has lived and worked on five continents and served for 6 years as the high school Bible teacher and chaplain at an international Christian school in Nairobi, Kenya.

Mike and his wife, Liz, and two daughters, Abby and Lily, returned from Kenya to Bakersfield in 2013 and became members of Crossway. In 2018 Mike accepted the invitation to join the pastoral team at Crossway and serve alongside Pastors Mark and Jeremy.

Pastor Mike has a deep love of learning and teaching the whole counsel of God’s Word and is also committed to personal discipleship. He has completed an M.A.R. in Biblical Studies and an M.Div. in Theology at Liberty University School of Divinity When he’s not reading or studying, Mike enjoys cycling, playing his guitar, barbecuing, hiking and camping with his wife, Liz, family and friends.
