History

Although Crossway is a relatively new church, its roots run deep. This is because the pattern of churches planting churches has its beginnings in the New Testament. It’s the mission that Christ gave his followers before he returned to his Father (Matt. 28:19–20).

Crossway owes its beginnings to First Baptist Church of Capac and Inter-City Baptist Church of Allen Park. Although both churches are in Michigan, they have a common desire to see God’s work accomplished throughout the world—including California. Pastor Mark Brock, founding pastor of Crossway, was called by God to labor in Bakersfield. He and his family moved in 2006 and began working to gather a core group of people. The first meeting took place on October 1, 2006. Over the next sixteen months God powerfully worked to save, grow, and sanctify a small group of people. In early 2008 Crossway united together as a church family.
