Pastor Mark Brock
Pastor Mark is committed to teaching and preaching God’s Word by clearly explaining the meaning of the text and helping others grasp its significance for their everyday lives.
Pastor Mark Brock was born in California, but grew up in Wisconsin. He was raised in a Christian home and was saved at an early age. It wasn’t until shortly before entering college, however, that Mark felt God calling him to pastoral ministry. While attending Maranatha Baptist University and Seminary, he met his wife, Charity, who was raised in a pastor’s home. It was sometime during his college years in Wisconsin that God began leading Mark particularly to the Western US.
During college, Mark served as an Awana director and was heavily involved in the college ministries of his church. In 2001, he joined First Baptist Church of Capac, Michigan, and began serving as youth pastor until 2005. It was during this time that Mark attended Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary, where he went on to graduate with Master of Divinity and Master of Theology degrees. After this time of preparation, the Lord led him to begin the process of starting Crossway Baptist Church. Mark also graduated with a Doctor of Ministry degree in expository preaching from The Master’s Seminary.
After this time of preparation, the Lord led Mark to begin the process of starting a church in California. He worked with about twenty different churches from the Midwest to work towards planting a new church. In 2006, the Brocks moved to Bakersfield to begin the work of planting Crossway Baptist Church. Pastor Mark and his family have been laboring at Crossway since that time. The Lord has blessed Mark and Charity with six children, Sydney, Addison, Charlize, Haddon, Solomon, and Zion. The Brocks are also involved in foster care.
